The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) of Mexico City has informed the population about the climatic effects expected this Friday, the 21st, in the capital. These effects include rain, showers, electrical activity, and the possible fall of hail. For this reason, a yellow alert has been activated for eleven specific municipalities.
"This afternoon we will have a warm environment with a cloudy sky in Mexico City. Rain is forecasted with intervals of showers, electrical activity, and possible hail," said the SGIRPC. According to the climatic traffic light of the capital, the Yellow Alert is activated when a rainfall amount between 15 and 29 millimeters is expected.
The alert implies recommendations to citizens, such as using umbrellas and raincoats to cope with bad weather. It has been specified that hail could occur between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Additionally, the most affected municipalities by the rain and hail have been identified, urging residents to take precautions when moving around.
In this regard, it has been advised to avoid throwing garbage near drains, close windows, and stay away from large puddles on the streets. A warning has also been issued about the possible falling of trees as a consequence of the intensity of climatic phenomena. The institution recommends staying away from areas close to walls, trees, power lines, and structures at risk of falling.
